The Celtics are continuing to prove why they are the team to beat in the NBA. After the Suns erased a 15 point lead in the second quarter to tie the game up going into the half, the Celtics again used a huge second half to defeat the Suns 117-97.
Paul Pierce simply abused Gordon Giricek in the fourth en route to 27 points. Kevin Garnett scored 30 despite pulling down only two boards.
The Celts defeated the Suns despite Phoenix shooting more than 50% from the floor. The Suns did commit more than 20 turnovers and the Celts controlled the boards throughout. Phoenix had a season low two fast break points in the game.
The Suns came into the game having won seven of their last eight games. The Celtics are now 24-5 against the Western Conference.
