Just days after it seemed Titans CB Pacman Jones would be thugging it up in Big D next season, talks broke off between the Titans and Cowboys which allowed the Patriots to swoop in and trade for the talented but oft-arrested Jones.
The departure of all-pro corner Asante Samuel left a gaping hole on the corner for the Patriots and despite the near dozen arrests for Jones in the past few years, the Patriots seem to be the best chance for him to get on the right track.
Jones is still under suspension from the NFL for repeated off the field incidents but the Patriots organization is confident that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will lift the penalty when the trade is approved.
For compensation, the Patriots have sent over a sixth round pick but also had to guarantee Jones had a 24 body guard to “bust skulls at da club” and daily bags of Mary Jane to keep him calm through the transition to New England.
My Take: Happy April Fools day from sportsofboston.com!
