All the Red Sox demons come home to roost today as the infamous Bill Buckner will throw out the pitch for opening day at Fenway Park, according to Boston.com.
Buckner, of course, made the famous error in Game 6 of the 1986 World Series against the Mets which led to the Sox losing the game and eventually the Series.
Buckner declined to appear at Fenway after the Sox won the 2004 World Series but apparently he’s back on the bandwagon.
My Take: I think it’s pretty silly that it’s taken 22 years and two World Series titles for this whole thing to be resolved. Of course Red Sox fans will stand and cheer Buckner now because they have their title, and show the man the respect he deserved throughout the years only to be despised by the very fan base which now will cheer his name. Typical Boston.
