Coco Crisp was just drilled by James Shields in the side. He originally acted calm, then charged the mound. James Sheilds went for a colossal right hand and completely missed, and Coco landed a right jab to Sheilds’ ear.
Crisp was tackled by catcher Dioner Navarro right after he hit Shields. Jonny Gomes ran from the dugout and proceeded to pound Coco while he was held down. Big man. Carl Crawford ran in from center field and threw fists of fury at Coco’s head while on the ground. After a few minutes, Coco emerged from the pile with a few bumps and bruises and was immediately ejected. Shields and Gomes were also ejected.
Julio Lugo, who was in the on-deck circle, was the first to the pile. He was trying to pull people aside but was not involved in the big fight. Jacoby Ellsbury, Sean Casey, and Mike Timlin were also quick to help rescue Coco from the bottom of the pile.
