Patriots Cut Willie Andrews

Willie Andrews can take that smile elsewhere. Good riddance.

The Patriots cut troubled defensive back Willie Andrews Tuesday, not long after he was arrested for the second time after the Super Bowl. Andrews’ second arrest on Monday was more alarming, as he was cuffed for holding a gun to his girlfriend’s head.

He was initially arrested in February for marijuana possession with intent to distribute.

Andrews was originally drafted in the last round of the 2006 NFL Draft. He played mainly as a backup over two seasons with the Patriots, recording 24 tackles (13 solo) in his career.

My Thoughts: What a fool. He was just on an 18-1 team that has a chance to win the Super Bowl every season. What was he thinking? Well…we know he wasn’t thinking if he held a gun to his girlfriend’s head. Good thing he wasn’t an important player as well. One thing we do know, however, is that the Patriots are too classy to let any player like Andrews stick around for long, no matter how good they are.
