Oh my god. According to a report in the New York Post, Manny Ramirez is interested in signing with the Yankees next season as a way to “get at the Red Sox.” Writes the Post’s George King:
Having successfully orchestrated his divorce from Boston and his landing in with the Dodgers, Manny Ramirez would like to make life miserable for the Red Sox during the next few seasons.
According to people who have spoken to the eccentric outfielder since he was dealt to L.A. on July 31, Ramirez wants to sign a free-agent deal with the Yankees this offseason and get 19 chances a year to punish Boston.
“He wants to play for the Yankees so he can get at the Red Sox,” a close friend of Ramirez’s told The Post.
This news comes on the heels of MLB’s reported inquiry into the events leading up to Manny’s departure from Boston. Sources from MLB’s office in New York said that there’s no way to prove that Manny wasn’t hustling enough, so the investigation is dead before it started.
I thought Manny said he loved the fans of Boston. How do you think he would be received if he goes to the Yankees just to stick it to the Red Sox? I don’t think the Yankees would ever go for this, but they have a lot of money coming off the books in Jason Giambi and Mike Mussina. The money is there, the need for a power bat is there, but will the Yankees be able to put up with the hard-to-predict Manny Ramirez?
Where will Manny Ramirez sign in the offseason?

Why are the Red Sox an option in this poll!? Does anyone REALLY think he will come back here? All signs point to no.

I think manny will end up on the dodgers again next year because he did great for them and they want to stay on top of the NL west not sink to the bottom and watch arizona wim year after year after year
I have been a supporter of Manny since his days in Atlanta, he has always been able to hit, even more so with the Red Sox. If he becomes a Yankee I will lose all respect for him. I am a die hard Red Sox fan and to see Manny do that to the fans would be a disgrace. I stuck with him through his departure from the Red Sox watching him absolutely crush balls in LA he is the best hitter of our time and will be headed to the Hall of Fame, but for God’s sake don’t put a Yankee’s stint under your belt. To Ray and Arnold, even if Manny does side with the Yankees, he wouldn’t be batting behind A-Rod, if anything he would go in front of him batting Clean-up, which would be great for the Yanks, because A-rod would see better pitches than Manny just because he has that threat of always being able to get a hit.
[...] all, the Sox couldn’t show him the door fast enough this past season – but Manny has reportedly said he’d like to play for there as well, if only to get back at the Red Sox for the ignominious [...]
