Red Sox Clinch Wildcard

Jonathan Papelbon

The Red Sox went on to capture the wildcard spot tonight against the Cleveland Indians, 5-4. Wakefield needed help from the entire bullpen after pitching six innings, allowing four runs. Manny Delcarmen, Hideki Okajima, Javier Lopez, Justin Masterson, and Jonathan Papelbon combined for three innings of shutout relief. Papelbon brought the high-heat in the 9th striking out Johnny Peralta and Shin-Soo Choo, followed by a flyout to Cora by Victor Martinez.

Now it’s time for the fun to begin. Get your popcorn ready!

P.S. Papelbon is still a nut!
