The Celtics continued their resurgence Monday night against the Phoenix Suns, winning 104-87 in Boston for their fifth straight victory. The Celtics were in complete control of this one from the get-go and steadily maintained just about a 30-point lead through much of the game. They were up by as much as 35 points at one juncture. Once again, the “Big Four” of Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo were able to sit out the entire fourth quarter as the bench finished this one off.

Rajon Rondo led all scorers with 23 points and seven assists. Ray Allen added 20 points and Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce added 16 and 12 points respectively. The bench also had another decent game with Glen Davis adding nine points and grabbing nine rebounds. Bill Walker had a nice game again in his third appearance since coming up from the D-League by putting up seven points and continuing to show a good amount of talent.

For Phoenix, Shaquille O’Neal had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Steve Nash had 12 points and 8 assists and Grant Hill added 10 points as well. From the bench, Louis Amundson had 13 points and Alando Tucker had 11.

Brian Scalabrine saw more time with the starting five tonight due to Kendrick Perkins sitting out another game with his injured shoulder. However, Kevin Garnett acted as the center while he attempted to cover Shaq.

The Celtics head down to Miami for a match-up with Dwayne Wade and Heat on Wedensday night.
