Former Celtics forward Brian Grant, 37, has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

“I am going to face it head on, but I still have fear. There are times when I’m scared of just losing control of me, you know? Not being able to control myself, and having to have someone take care of me.”

The Suns traded Grant with Rajon Rondo to the Celtics on Draft Day in 2006 for a future first-round pick. Grant retired shortly after he was waived in late October 2006 citing chronic knee problems.

His best years came with the Blazers and Heat in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s. He averaged 10.5 points and 7.4 rebounds in his NBA career.

We here at Sports of Boston send our prayers to Grant and his family as he battles this debilitating disease.
