Boston University Beats Indiana 71-67

Let’s get two things straight. First, this is not Bob Knight’s Indiana University Hoosiers. Gone are the days of dominant basketball in Hoosierville and the red and white no longer strike fear in the hearts of their opponents. However, secondly, beating such a prestigious program – and with a top of the line coach like Tom Crean – is still an impressive feat. The Boston University Terriers trailed for most of the game but stormed back in the second half to beat the Hoosiers, 71-67, and secured their first win of the season.

The Terriers (1-3) earned the first win of head coach Pat Chambers’ career by dominating the glass all evening. After Jake O’Brien gave the Terriers a four point lead with less than a minute to go, it came down to free throws.  After a Hoosier bucket made it a two point game, Carlos Strong hit one of two free throws to make it a three point game. Indiana then missed a game-tying three but Corey Lowe missed two free throws and the Hoosiers had one more chance to tie the game but came up short and Lowe hit one of two at the line to secure the win at the Puerto Rico tip-off. BU will now face nationally ranked Georgia Tech on Sunday. More stats to come…
