Patriots in Cali; Al Davis Crazy

This week’s 2-point conversion column will focus on the Patriots California dreaming and the Al Davis claim of Randy Moss tampering by Bill Belichick.
Point 1: Patriots Chillin’ in Cali:
A long bye week for the 2-1 Patriots leaves the team plenty of time to stew over the embarrassing loss to the Dolphins. As bad as things [...]

TGIF: The NFL Quarterback-up Club

No, I’m not referring to Acclaim’s classic NFL video game series, NFL Quarterback Club. I’m reffering to an elite club of NFL players that rarely see the field. They are the five best backup quarterbacks in the NFL: players you usually want to never see because your team’s starter is a better player and leader. [...]

Dolphins 38, Patriots 13 - The Verdict

I apologize for the delay of this week’s Verdict, after Sunday I went into a mini-sports hibernation. We all know the Pats laid an egg so I’ll keep this short and sweet. Let’s see how my questions were answered:

Will Randy Moss be involved more often? A lot has been made about Moss and his alligator [...]

Patriots Offense in Transition

Here’s this week’s Patriots Two-Point Conversion column:
The loss of Tom Brady to this offense in the first drive of the first week of the season puts the Patriots in some rare company. Only once before has a team lost a reigning NFL MVP for the entire season, that was back in 1991 when Joe Montana [...]

Was the Hit on Tom Brady Dirty?

Because the Boston sports messiah went down to a major knee injury from a hit from the opposing team, we have had a silly question proposed. We already know the NFL ruled the hit legal, which is a ruling I agree with. But was Bernard Pollard’s intent to injure Tom Brady. In my opinion, if [...]

Patriots 19, Jets 10 - The Verdict

Against all odds, the Patriots defense stepped up and Matt Cassel controlled the game as New England took advantage of opportunities and beat the Brett Favre led Jets 19-10. Big plays all over the field from the defense led by Ellis Hobbs and Adalius Thomas. Here’s a look at The Verdict:

How Will the Patriots respond? [...]

Gametime: Patriots At Jets

The Teams: New England Patriots (1-0) vs. New York Jets (1-0)
The Terms: Regular Season Week 2
The Place: Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
The Time: 4:15pm
The Channel: CBS
3 Burning Questions:

How will the Patriots respond? Losing an MVP quarterback in the first week of the season to a year long injury is something no team has ever had [...]

Patriots Sign Matt Gutierrez to Practice Squad

The Patriots signed QB Matt Gutierrez, formerly the team’s third quarterback, to the practice squad Wednesday. Now, the Pats have three QBs on the roster after placing reigning MVP Tom Brady on the injured reserve with an injured left knee.
Matt Cassel will be the starting quarterback for the rest of the season (barring injury) and [...]

Fantasy Football Report: Week 1

Week 1 is in the books. The season is already 1/16 over and you don’t have time to waste if you are looking to make improvements. If you lost your matchup in Week 1, then you are probably in a panic. Hey, I lost in both my leagues and I am not worried. Just take [...]

Did Tom Brady Need the Preseason?

Tom Brady’s ACL tear was a freak accident (yes, I think the hit was clean), but I wonder if he was affected by not having played a preseason game.  There was the pre-existing foot injury that kept him out of action in the preseason.  Were the injuries more serious than the Patriot organization led us to believe?
We [...]

Brady Out For Season - What Happens Now?

With head coach Bill Belichick confirming that Tom Brady will need surgery, be placed on injured reserve and will miss the entire season, as hard as it is it’s time to move on and figure out how the Patriots plan on winning games.
As of now, Matt Cassel is the quarterback of the New England Patriots. [...]

Tom Brady To Have Season-Ending Surgery

It’s now official, Patriots quarterback will have surgery on his left knee and miss the entire 2008 season.
The Patriots did not confirm if Brady does have a torn ACL in his left knee, but nevertheless Brady will be forced to hand over the reigns to Matt Cassel, who hasn’t started an official football game since [...]

Tom Brady Injury Video

Tom Brady Video: Here is a clip that features the injury to Tom Brady’s left knee (presumed to be a Torn ACL)…and the Matt Cassell era begins.

Note: This video may be taken down eventually by the NFL, but while it is here, enjoy.

Patriots 17, Chiefs 10 - The Verdict

The Patriots survived week 1 (which is more than we can say for a certain team from San Diego) despite losing the golden boy. I was at the game and it’s an understatement to say that the energy completely left the house for the balance of three quarters. There are rumors that it’s an ACL [...]

Tom Brady Torn ACL?

NBCSports.com is reporting that QB Tom Brady suffered a torn ACL at the hands of the Chiefs Sunday. His status for the future is unknown.
According to WEEI.com’s Ron Borges, NFL sources close to the situation have confirmed it is in fact a torn ACL, likely ending Brady’s season.
